Governor Scott Walker Issues ESOP Proclamation
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has issued an ESOP proclamation observing October as Employee Ownership Month:
WHEREAS; employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) exist in approximately 10,000 companies in the United States, employing 10.3 million working men and women; and
WHEREAS; employee ownership is becoming a practice that is instrumental in helping Americans share in our nation’s growth and prosperity by enabling our citizens to accumulate significant amounts of capital stock in the business at which they are employed; and
WHEREAS; employee ownership has become a powerful incentive for Americans to make the best of their talents and energies in their places of work, thus strengthening the competitive potential of our state’s businesses; and
WHEREAS; employee ownership helps create and retain jobs in our state;
WHEREAS; the successful record of many employee-owned firms benefits both companies and employees;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Scott Walker, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, do hereby proclaim October 2012, as
EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP MONTH
Throughout the State of Wisconsin and I commend this observance to all of our citizens.
